ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The Alberta Society of Artists is proud to present “Celebrating Our Backyard”, an exhibition featuring the works of Misty Ring.

About The Artist

In 2020, Misty Ring embarked on a transformative artistic endeavour, dedicating herself to creating a watercolour painting daily. An homage to Alberta’s extraordinary skyline, capturing its dramatic beauty and ever-changing allure. Amidst the uncertainty and challenges of the pandemic, her paintings became a poignant reminder of the importance of mental wellness and self-care. Serving as a gentle nudge to venture outdoors, breathe in the fresh air, and find solace in the expansive sky. Regardless of our physical separation, the sky binds us together, reminding us that we are never truly alone in our struggles.

Artist’s Statement

“Recognizing that we live in a province that holds so many natural wonders including the badlands, waterfalls, farmlands, a boreal forest, and the Rocky Mountains. We awe visitors for many reasons, but we surprise them with our amazing skies. I speak about that personally as I was new to Alberta in 2006. I fell in love and have not looked back.”

On-Site Painting:

As a part of this exhibition, Misty will be in the ASA Gallery most Saturdays working on a new painting — a Triptych featuring a landscape well-known to Calgarians. Drop in to meet the artist and watch the work come together! A full list of dates can be found to the left.
