From a waterfall to a still pond, to mist, rain, floods, the ocean: from ice to snow and Tsunami, water exists in many forms and makes up 98% of who we are.  Alberta artists ponder the concept of water in this exhibition coordinated by the Alberta Society of Artists.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Cassandra Dam Dr. Cassandra Dam completed her PhD in Communications + Culture in 2015 and received I.V.S.A.’s 2016 Rieger PhD Award. She received her Masters Degree from the University of Oxford's History of Art + Visual Culture department. Her academic background is interdisciplinary and includes: Photography, The Classics, Visual culture, and, Art history. Dr Dam is an instructor at the Alberta College of Art + Design.

Diaspora means “to scatter” in Greek and traditionally referred to dispersion or migration of a people. Today this word has gained a gained a broader meaning to describe any community living outside their shared country of origin or ancestry.  Alternately, scattering can be applied to animals, plants, things or abstract ideas. Coordinated by the Alberta Society of Artists, artists in Alberta were invited to visually present what "Diaspora" means to them.
