Description

The Alberta Society of Artists sets the following criteria for a Program Coordinator to coordinate, execute and maintain the ASA’s program delivery specific to art education.  This includes exhibitions, lectures, scholarships, partnerships with post-secondary institutions in Alberta and others. The successful applicant should possess a degree in the Arts Management field, Communications, Marketing or Project Management from an accredited university or college or equivalent, as well as a history of program delivery preferably within the non-profit sector. The position requires a person who is self-motivated, energetic, articulate, well organized, resourceful, positive and familiar with computer programs including: Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, InDesign, Excel, Word Press, and Dropbox. Previous experience working with non-profit organizations and volunteer boards considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Coordinates and manages ASA program delivery to the public throughout Alberta, which includes education, exhibition, scholarship, and lectures:

  • Organizes and coordinates workshops and public events to increase awareness about the Alberta arts and artists
  • Coordinates all ASA art exhibitions in Calgary, Edmonton and the province including: writing and sending out the exhibition calls, managing and overseeing the submissions process; arranging the transportation and coordination with venues holding the exhibitions; scheduling the installment of the artwork and opening reception; contracts entertainment, speakers and additional assistance required to execute the overall production.
  • Collaborates with the Education Chair to develop, manage and implement speaker series, workshops and scholarship programs available to the public
  • Coordinates the jury process for selecting artwork for exhibitions, receives submissions, acts as a liaison with the jury advisor and jurors, advises artists of results and receives and ensures adequate packaging of artwork.
  • Designs advertising promotional material such as postcards, posters, brochures and does graphic design of exhibition catalogues
  • Works with colleges and universities in Alberta to offer scholarships to art students
  • Manages the ASA provincial office: administration, answer inquiries from ASA members and the public via email and phone
  • Work with the ASA President and Provincial Board on special projects as required
  • Identifies and completes grant applications for funding to implement ASA programs
  • Assists in communication with government, art organizations, galleries and institutions in Alberta and beyond
  • Designs, implements, updates and maintains web content pertinent to ASA program delivery on the ASA website
