Biography

I discovered my passion for textiles while living in the Alberta Rockies in the Town of Canmore. This passion was subsequently transformed into a commitment to challenge the art/craft boundary by utilizing textiles as a medium for the creation of art. My techniques include installation, soft sculpture, painting and textiles. As a conceptual artist, I work towards utilizing the medium to form meaning in my work.

I have been published in the United States and Canada, and have exhibited in Europe, Japan, the United States and Canada. Several of my pieces have won national awards. I am a juried member of the Canadian Society of Artists, the Prism textile exhibition group in Great Britain, as well as the Alberta Society of Artists (since 2004).

Volunteerism has been an important part of my career in art. Positions include Past President of The Alberta Society of Artists, and Western Rep for the Society of Canadian Artists.

Artist Statement

The meaning of my art is encapsulated by the presentation of both the image and the medium. I am inspired by current issues in Society.
