Q&A with the ASA

ASA: Can you tell us about your influences?

Terra:  I am mostly influenced by paint, natural processes found in nature and the beauty of nature in general. In my recent body of work; ‘We Went To Winter’, the opening to my artist statement reads, “returning for summer, spring and fall, seeing so many beautiful things and in turn inspiring the creation of the Dots – Drawing of things. The Dot being the central figure in the paintings, created through the combination of evaporation and sedimentation applied to reservoirs of paint, producing deposits representational of things found in nature.”

ASA: What would you consider to be your most successful body of work to date?

Terra: For myself I can’t label one body of work as being the most successful. Each body of work is unique in it’s own way, and holds important meaning. Recently, I felt successful with the exhibition of Dots– “Drawings of things”.   Which draws upon natural, repetitive, controlled mark making. Rings and lines of varying contrast and accumulation, open and closed shapes, surround the central figure – the Dot.
