Q&A with the ASA

ASA: Could you tell us about your influences?

Arlene: I had the opportunity to see an exhibition of original work by the Spanish painter, Joaquin Sorolla. I fell in love with his paintings of light, his confident brush strokes and skillful use of colour.

ASA: Which body of your work would you consider most successful to date?

Arlene: My latest work has been the most challenging and satisfying for me. I would consider that a success. After decades of painting watercolours, I have begun to paint in acrylic, beginning as I would a wet-in-wet watercolour and enjoying the simple beauty of the paint.
