Kathleen Theriault graduated from The Alberta College of Art with a major in Painting and an Emphasis in Drawing and began her career as an illustrator, graphic designer and art instructor in Canada, Australia and South Asia.
Kathleen is an award winning, active member of The Federation of Canadian Artists, an Associate member of the Oil Painters of America, an artist member of the Leighton Art Centre and a Juried Member of The Alberta Society of Artists. Kathleen’s paintings are owned by collectors in Canada, India, Australia and the UK. “My intention is to interpret and express nature’s beauty and life’s energy in a nonobjective and expressionisticmanner. Sketching and painting from nature inspires me to channel my studies into larger, more intuitive paintings in my studio. It’s the journey, creative process and tactile connection to paint that inspires me”

ASA: Can you tell us about your influences?

Kathleen: I am influenced by the philosophy of abstract expressionism, assemblage, & collage painting. I’m inspired by Helen Frankenthaler, Hans Hofmann, Joan Mitchell, Grace Hartigan, Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Juan Gris & Louise Nevelson

ASA: What do you consider to me your most successful body of work to date?

Kathleen: The body of work that I would consider to be my most authentic and honest work to date is my abstract collage series.
